The Ethics Raising Institute
I
read a very thoughtful article a few days ago. Written by a celebrated author
and published in one of the most distinguished magazines I have ever seen, the
article sought to make readers aware of the importance of promoting genuine
care and love through the written word. The author, a strong and talented woman,
is the founder of the Ethics Raising
Institute, an organization that facilitates K-12 teachers to nurture their passion
for teaching and to foster educational/ethical values beyond school settings by
cultivating meaningful relationships with parents and friends of the schools via
email.
What
fascinates me most about the project is the attractive system (or model) of
transparency created by the company, which successfully operates without owning
a website or the popular “likes” on facebook. It seems the organization has
developed a more lasting and stable platform sustained only by a reliable
writing ethics. The Ethics Raising Institute serves its reading community in a
quiet voice, allowing the teachers’ names to appear as hosting the edifying,
inspirational emails sent to their respective recipients. Apparently, many teachers
interested in understanding “education” on a deeper level and fomenting rapport
with parents and friends of the schools financially support the Institute.
“Our calling in life is never private. It is
subtly linked to other people’s vocations,” I heard a speaker say one day. It
is no secret that teachers need loads of help and encouragement so that they
can better care for their students. Yet, some even are willing to use their
finances to make the Ethics Raising Institute enriching system possible and accessible
to parents and friends of the schools. These must be the most caring human
beings in the whole world! The alliance between the Institute and its teachers
offers us a good metaphor of the Trinity. Didn’t our Jesus pay it all before
the Father so we could receive the comfort and reassurance of the Holy
Spirit? I believe the Ethics Raising Institute and its devoted teachers deserve
gratitude and respect because they are advancing real values in the face of
misapprehension and confusion. “Let’s fall in love with people,” that
thoughtful article read; “the rest is insignificant.”
